Join the team at the Duquesne Unemployment Compensation Service Center (UCSC) as a Clerical Assistant 3 where you will perform complex clerical work by analyzing cases, accurately completing a wide variety of transactions and making necessary adjustments to claims of various program types.

Requirements

A Clerical Assistant 3 accurately completes a wide variety of complex transactions to establish and adjust overpayments, recover overpaid monies, Relief From Charges (RFC) and makes necessary adjustments to unemployment compensation claims.

An understanding in detail of the relevant federal and state laws and guidelines for the various UC program types is essential to this role.

You will review various incoming UC claims, research and resolve the claim in compliance with all UC laws and regulations.

You can expect to investigate and communicate courteously and effectively in writing and by telephone to inquiries received from claimants, employers, UC Service Centers, Office of UC Tax Services, other departmental agencies, and other interested parties while abiding by disclosure guidelines and being sensitive to the privacy of customers.

Other duties:

  • Use a personal computer, scanner, and additional office equipment
  • Display and retrieve BenMod records/documents
  • Process benefit payment requests
  • Maintain accurate and legible files

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Works hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the required probationary period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Duquesne. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.

Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
