The Department of Transportation is seeking a Civil Engineer Consultant to join the Bureau of Bridges in Dauphin County.
In this role, you will play a key part in safeguarding critical infrastructure by supporting the evaluation, maintenance, and improvement of bridge structures across the Commonwealth.

In this position, you will oversee and manage a comprehensive quality assurance program for bridge design projects across multiple districts.
As a registered Professional Engineer, you will collaborate with an Assistant Chief Bridge Engineer to develop and recommend statewide engineering policies, exercising professional judgment and autonomy in guiding technical decisions.
Your responsibilities include resolving bridge-related construction and material issues; reviewing consultant and contractor price proposals and recommending acceptance or rejection; performing parametric studies in highly technical areas to support the adoption and implementation of required specifications; and conducting quality assurance reviews of bridge design and construction loading activities performed by district staff.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
