The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulic) for the Bureau of Design and Delivery to manage a quality assurance and guidance program for hydrologic and hydraulics (H+H) design. Requirements

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will assist in developing and implementing statewide engineering policies and complete engineering plans, investigations, studies, and designs which surpass established guidelines.

You will perform advanced civil engineering work and apply duties associated with the hydraulic design, analysis, construction, and maintenance of roads, bridges, related hydrologic structures, and other civil engineering projects.

You will also perform studies, prepare plans, and recommend designs for technical hydraulic features.

In addition, you will participate in natural disaster response activities, including conducting site investigations and providing technical advice on hydrologic and hydraulic issues to districts, all central office bureaus, and property owners.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is based in Central Office, Harrisburg. Selected candidate may be able to work from a District or County office as space permits.
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
