Key Requirements

  • Alternatively, two years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to perform independent engineering analysis and computations for maintenance issues
  • Supervisory skills to direct foremen and crews in highway maintenance operations
  • Full-time on-site work from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday, no telework

Requirements

This pivotal supervisory role requires the application of sound civil engineering principles and practices to make high-impact operational and strategic decisions to ensure for the safety, efficiency, and structural integrity of the Commonwealth’s state highways within Fayette County.

Duties will include directing all phases of seasonal highway maintenance work inclusive of minor construction programs on state highways.

This work also involves planning, scheduling, and controlling all work including snow removal, signage, bridge maintenance, surface treatment and patching, and other operations as necessary.


Within this role, you will provide comprehensive technical leadership and oversight to solve challenging and complex problems by performing independent engineering analysis and computations to resolve maintenance project related issues. Safety is a top priority of this position, therefore it is essential to ensure foremen are adequately trained in all aspects of highway maintenance work and crew supervision to foster independent operations in all routine maintenance activities.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
