Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and utilities at a correctional facility, including planning preventive programs, handling emergencies, and managing a team of workers and inmates.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in facility upkeep like plumbing and electrical work, plus supervisory skills to lead a team in a structured environment.

It requires completing basic training and ensuring everything runs smoothly in a high-security setting.

  • Experience in water distribution maintenance and wastewater treatment plant operations

Full Job Description

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, implement and supervise the daily emergency maintenance/repair programs for a level ii institution.

  • Develop maintenance plans and procedures for buildings, utilities, grounds, services, installed equipment, etc.

  • Determine requirements, obtain required materials/equipment and assign work.

  • Establish on-call Procedures to respond to emergency maintenance and repair calls and ensure the work is promptly and properly performed.

  • Develop/implement preventive maintenance program for the institution.

  • Determine items requiring periodic pm and develop check list for each item.

  • Schedule and follow up to ensure PM's are completed as required. Develop plan and cost estimate, determine schedule and obtain materials, supplies & equipment.

  • Select, orient, train, and evaluate new employees/inmates.

  • Responsible for maintenance/testing of water distribution and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant.

Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
