Summary

Full Job Description

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Offset-Lepe Division DCF.

As an Assistant Supervisor (Offset/Letterpress), you will be fully responsible for assisting the respective Division Manager in the planning, supervising, and coordinating of the area operations - maintaining a positive and continuous technical control over the operation and ensuring the optimum utilization of equipment, materials, and personnel.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

You must meet the screen-out element Ability to Lead or Supervise, normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions.

To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have: The ability to direct the work of others, in the set-up, operation and adjustment of computerized, high-speed, large format offset, intaglio and/or gravure (with bindery adaptation) printing presses and related equipment within prescribed safety and product security requirements by virtue of my own, journeyman level pressperson experience and knowledge of such equipment.

In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified.

(other than blueprints) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Physical Requirements: The position works in a production environment and spends significant amounts of time walking on concrete floors, moving and climbing in and around large industrial printing presses and related equipment.

The position may at times exert moderate force when lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment, parts, or supplies. Lifting occurs with normal body mechanics and does not exceed 45 pounds.

Close visual and mental attention is required in order to detect printing errors.

As an Assistant Supervisor (Offset/Letterpress), you will: Under the direction of a Division Manager or Division Supervisor, plan the daily production of the section in accordance with print orders and customer requirements issued in the production schedule.

Monitor operations to ensure that work procedures and methods are followed - ensuring security and accountability rules and procedures are adhered to and taking disciplinary action, under the direction of the Division Supervisor or Manager, in accordance with established procedures for infractions of security and accountability breaches.

Work closely with other Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) supervisors with suggestions and production issues.

Make technical determinations using visual inspection and all available scan test equipment information as to causes of any substandard printings detected - determining if causes are avoidable and ensuring that the corrective measures are implemented.

Provide instruction and/or training to new section employees.
