Base salary range: $88,520 - $115,079
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-12. Expert-level knowledge in field.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading teams in managing government contracts for the Navy, including planning purchases, negotiating deals, and ensuring everything follows the rules for buying services, equipment, or materials.
It's a senior role where you'll work with experts from different fields to solve complex buying challenges and make decisions on contracts worth up to $50 million.
A good fit would be someone with strong experience in contracting, leadership skills, and the ability to communicate with high-level officials in government and industry.
You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the FAR Services Division (022), FAR Supply Division (023), or Non-FAR Division (024) within the Contracts Department (02) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions.
This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $138,370).
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional contracting specialist, leading contract activities (e.g.
procurement or contractual strategies, planning, solicitation, negotiations, administration) to ensure procurement or contractual obligations are in compliance with regulations governing the acquisition or procurement of services, equipment, or materials for an organization.
Basic Qualification Requirements for Contracting Officer Positions: In addition to meeting the basic educational requirement as well as the requirements above, applicants must have: 1) At least two years of experience in contracting positions; and 2) Completed all contracting courses required for a contracting officer for positions at the level and grade at which the person is serving.
Certification at this level is sufficient to meet this standard.
