Entry salary: $62,107 | Full performance (GS-12): up to $96,770
Career ladder: Start at GS-11 and advance to GS-12 with experience.
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading contracting efforts for major naval projects, managing large budgets, and ensuring government deals deliver the best results while following all rules.
It's a leadership role in a Navy contracts team, handling complex purchases and planning timelines with customers.
A good fit would be someone with strong experience in government contracting, good at negotiating deals, and comfortable leading teams on high-stakes projects.
You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST (Contracting Officer/Branch Lead) in the Operations and Execution Division Gold, Contracts Department of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional contracting specialist managing acquisition programs to ensure compliance with regulations, optimize performance-based contracting strategies, and lead the procurement process in order to achieve best value for the government and improve initiatives.
