Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing and overseeing government contracts after they're awarded, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently within the Navy's weapons and defense systems department.

You'll act as a key advisor on procurement matters, lead a team of contract representatives, and analyze processes to improve how contracts are handled.

You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE/TEHCNICAL SPECIALIST in the USW WPNS VEH & DEFENSE SYS DEPT, BUSINESS OPERATIONS OFFICE of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.

The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.

  • You will perform the duties of a senior Department Contracts Manager (DCM) for the Weapons, Vehicles and Defensive Systems Department (Code 85)
  • You will rely on a professional knowledge of government programs and operations to analyze department post award contracts requirements and associate processes for both effectiveness and efficiency.
  • You will evaluate methods and techniques for assessing contract development or execution.
  • You will serve as the department lead for the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) workforce and primary liaison to the Contracts Department (Code 02).
  • You will advise department personnel on contracting actions, and conduct a variety of analyses to support the department acquisition plans.
