Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of accountants in managing financial operations for a naval warfare center, including preparing reports, conducting audits, and handling tasks like billing and payments using specialized government software.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11/12 or NT-04 in professional accounting, including preparing budgetary and proprietary financial statements using ERP systems
  • Advanced analytical skills to assess financial statements, diagnose and resolve accounting issues, perform database queries, and generate complex financial reports
  • Experience with Navy Enterprise Resources Planning (NERP) system for processing month-end/year-end activities and certifications in the Defense Departmental Reporting System (DDRS)
  • Ability to perform audits and assist in Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) efforts
  • Expertise in overseeing accounting areas such as accounts receivable, vendor pay, asset accounting, accrual management, cash management, shipping, unmatched disbursements, and financial statements
  • Leadership skills to provide guidance to accountants, resolve team conflicts, train personnel, and handle complex technical accounting matters

Full Job Description

You will serve as a ACCOUNTING TEAM LEAD in the COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CTR CORONA DIV. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 pay band or equivalent grade levels (GS-11/12) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Accountant preparing and evaluating budgetary and proprietary financial statements using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system by applying advanced analytical skills to assess financial statements, diagnose and resolve accounting issues, perform database queries, and generate detailed and complex financial reports for a working capital fund organization.

  • You will serve as the Managerial/Corporate Accounting/Dorman Account Review (DARQ) section of NSWC Corona's Comptroller Department as an Accounting Team Lead.
  • You will assist the Accounting Officer and Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) Team by performing audits.
  • You will be responsible for performing or advising in all areas of accounting in Corona's Navy Enterprise Resources Planning (NERP) system.
  • You will be processing and performing month-end/year-end activities in N-ERP, along with the certification in the Defense Departmental Reporting System (DDRS).
  • You will provide expert guidance and direction to other accountants in complex technical accounting matters.
  • You will provide oversight and execution of performing accounting work in the areas of accounts receivable, vendor pay, asset accounting, accrual management, cash management, shipping, unmatched disbursements, financial statements.
  • You will resolve complaints and team conflicts, trains and assists personnel and provides knowledge/functional guidance relative to accounting.
