About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services.
Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This is a permanent position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which includes: Providing clerical support (i.e., screening telephone calls/visitors, maintaining office calendars, maintaining records or files, etc.) for the office; Preparing correspondence for the office staff; Utilizing office automation software to prepare various types of documents (i.e., spreadsheets, reports, graphs, charts, statistical data, etc.); Assisting with onboarding process of military and/or civilian personnel by gathering required documents.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR Education Substitution: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration; Business Management, Communications; or Office Management.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.
