Areas considered "near" Sitka National Historical Park are Baranof Island, which includes the community of Sitka, and the adjacent Admiralty Island including Angoon, the adjacent Chichagof Island including Hoonah, and the nearby City and Borough of Juneau.
The following are the competencies identified for this position.

Knowledge of desktop computer systems and associated software programs. Ability to organize a variety of information and maintain records and files. Ability to prepare, track and coordinate budget.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Ability to type 40 WPM. Major Duties:
Provides administrative information and assistance to the Superintendent and Sitka National Historical Park staff, on the practical and technical aspects of office administration across various functions, including advisory services, human resources, office services, budget management, and property management including: Provides accurate and reliable information on administrative functions.
Relays personnel administrative program requirements to management and staff. Serves as the primary contact for coordinating with Human Resources Specialists.
Initiates personnel actions and transmits related documentation to SHRO.
Provides orientation for new employees and assists with in-processing paperwork Provides information on benefits during Open Seasons and assists the public with employment inquiries.
Acts as Timekeeper for the park. Acts as receptionist, managing telephone and email inquiries.
Oversees mail distribution, providing guidance on postage classification and processing Acts as the administrative point of contact and procedural expert.
Maintains office files, manages administrative suspense items, and tracks transactions. Ensure compliance with standards in financial processes, including travel requests and invoices.
Oversees supply functions, including receiving and checking incoming supplies. Ensure government property is properly marked and recorded in automated systems.
