Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) is looking to hire multiple interns to assist with Public Relations & Marketing, Community Engagement, and Safety & Security.Here's what you can expect to do:Public Relations & Marketing Intern - 1 available position
Perform functions to support SPRWS in their mission by creating and posting social media content, working on marketing and outreach materials, and attending marketing events.
The primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Create layouts and designs for marketing collateral.
- Use of various design software to produce content and marketing materials.
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Support our Community Engagement Team by attending community events often during evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge/willingness to design in Canva
Community Engagement Intern - 1 available position
The Ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a willingness to learn about our utility's operations.
- Offer hands-on experience in public outreach, focusing on building relationships with the community and sharing important information about our services.
- Support our Community Engagement Team by attending community events often during evenings and weekends.
- Deliver information about SPRWS programs and answer customer questions.
- Promote key initiatives like water affordability, lead service line replacements, and educational campaigns. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a willingness to learn about our utility's operations.
- Engage with diverse audiences in a respectful and informative manner.

Safety & Security Intern - 1 available position
Perform functions related safety for Saint Paul Regional Water Services. The intern will work under direct supervision on specific projects and on general safety projects. Most of the time will be spent conducting updates to spatial data and performing database maintenance.
The primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Apply the full range of safety standards including the appropriate Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and the Standards of Industrial Safety in the conduct of building inspections.
- Learn the various types of personal protective equipment and ensure their availability to SPRWS employees.
- Inspect safety equipment such as eyewashes, AEDs, first aid kits, and other ancillary safety items and ensure that they are in a state of readiness.
- Support the Training supervisor in providing safety training to SPRWS employees.
- Attend training that will expand your horizons as a safety professional to include forklifts, aerial lifts, fall protection, trenching and excavation, work zone safety, and confined space.
- Utilize MS Office technologies and software to provide in service to SPRWS employees.
Information Specific to this Position: Anticipated start/end dates: mid-May to early September (Dates are somewhat flexible)
Hours: 40 hours a week during the summer

Requirements
Public Relations & Marketing:
Eligible candidate must be currently attending or enrolled in a post-secondary program studying strategic communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
- Must maintain active student status for the duration of internship.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
Community Engagement:Eligible candidates must be currently attending or enrolled in a post-secondary program studying in the field of Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Public Administration, Community & Nonprofit Leadership, or a related discipline.
- Must maintain active student status for the duration of internship.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
Safety & Security:Eligible candidates must be currently attending or enrolled in a post-secondary program with two years of college semester credits including at least two classes in Safety.
- Must maintain active student status for the duration of internship.
- Experience with Safety concepts and a desire to employ in a practical manner in a real-world environment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
