Full Job Description

Francis Marion University and the Physician Assistant Program invite applications for the position of Administrative Assistant.

The Administrative Assistant, under limited supervision of the PA Chair/Program Director, will perform a variety of advanced secretarial, clerical, and administrative duties for the Physician Assistant program.

The successful candidate must have general office skills and excellent communication skills (both written and oral).

Organizational skills, self-motivation, confidence, ability to work under stress, and flexibility in fluid situations are necessary.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as first point of contact for the Physician Assistant Program based in the Carter Center for Health Sciences.
  • Assists with reservations, scheduling, and logistics of classes, meetings, and events.
  • Assists with integrating/acclimating/communicating with new faculty/staff/students to school/departmental procedures.
  • Assists with accreditation applications, documentation, and preparation for on-site visits.
  • Performs back office clinical and administrative tasks as needed including serving on Admissions Committee.
  • Record and organize minutes from all committee meetings
  • Assists with the management of affiliation agreements with practice partners as needed.
  • Assists with the management of the admission process, student clinical hours, and files.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
  • Handles correspondence with students, community providers, and clinical affiliation partners.
  • Reserve space for class instruction, and faculty meetings
  • Supports Program Director and other staff in activities as they arise.
  • Performs various other administrative tasks as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

State Requirements: A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.


FMU Preferred Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced office and computer skills. Experience with Internet-based research. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel software programs. Communications and Billing experience are highly preferred.

Additional Information

Normal working hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm (Monday-Friday). Summer hours will vary.

State Classification: Administrative Assistant (AA75)

Pay Grade: GEN06

Salary: $37,200
