The New Mexico VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant with Assoc Dir, Patient Care.
The Administrative Assistant oversees administrative functions for personnel; control and requisition of supplies, work orders, timecards and pay related matters and project flow.
The incumbent will ensure management has their daily staff requirements met. The incumbent will serve as a resource providing first line support to management and the unit Nursing staff.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: following instructions to complete assignments; utilizing automated software to enter, retrieve, and maintain data; and organize and maintain files and record.
OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school.
OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education listed above.

Major Duties:
Duties include but not limited to: Perform clerical duties related to final discharge of patient (e.g. eligibility, travel, appointments, prescriptions, referrals, and follow up appointments).
Coordinate patient transfers to other VA Medical Centers, Nursing Home Placements and transfers to outside facilities. Assisting in training of Administrative Assistants.
Preparing pre-operative patient records for surgery by assuring the proper forms are in the patient records and all pre-operative orders have been followed.
Coordinate and facilitate the ongoing implementation, evaluation and effective use of the automated scheduling system.
Assist Management or Business Manager with compiling and/or retrieving pertinent reports and worksheets from the automated scheduling system. Responsible for data collection, tracking, and reporting.
Maintain clean, safe and orderly work area in accordance with clinical guidelines. Organize/prioritize problem solving techniques in daily work activities as needed.
