Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing everyday office support to a team focused on preventing impaired driving, including handling paperwork, emails, and phone calls for programs like breath testing and vehicle ignition locks.

About the Position:
This position supports the IDS by providing administrative services to the entire section. The position also supports the statewide Ignition Interlock Program (IIP).

The employee must:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills; willing and able to operate and read computer monitors/terminals on a continuous basis
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook etc.)
  • Be customer service oriented.
  • Effectively interact with representatives from law enforcement agencies, prosecutor’s offices, defense attorneys, ignition interlock companies, court members, probation officers, and the public.
  • Professionally interact with other Impaired Driving Section and WSP staff.
  • Comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Respect others and act professionally, accept and give constructive criticism, counsel, and advise appropriately, and be an active listener.
  • Respond to difficult, stressful, or sensitive interpersonal situations in a way that reduces or minimizes potential conflict and maintains good working relationships among internal personnel and customer agencies.
  • Follow the chain-of-command.

About the Division:
The Impaired Driving Section is comprised of the Breath Test Program (BTP), Ignition Interlock Program (IIP) and Drug Evaluation and Classification Program.

Requirements

Our new teammate will be able to:
  • Compose business communications
  • Compose, send and respond to electronic mail
  • Answer telephones

  • Facilitate the Technician Certificate Testing
  • Update and maintain the ignition interlock manufacturer database records
  • Monitor interlock customer failure reports
  • Assist in fulfilling public disclosure requests
  • Maintain retention schedules on all interlock program documents
  • Order supplies as needed from approved vendors
  • Provides clerical support to the Impaired Driving Section personnel
  • Maintain and prepare Impaired Driving Section invoices and credit card statements

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook etc.).
  • Strong computer skills; willing and able to operate and read computer monitors/terminals on a continuous basis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
