Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by the various projects that support the conservation of Pennsylvania’s natural resources? If so, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant 1 to join the Tuscarora Forest District team. This role is far more than routine administrative support—you will be a key partner in ensuring park operations are efficient, compliant, and financially sound. From budgeting and procurement to HR and general operations, your work will directly support the mission of conserving and sustaining Pennsylvania’s natural resources for generations to come. Requirements

As the Administrative Assistant 1, you will support the Tuscarora Forest District by overseeing a broad portfolio of administrative, fiscal, procurement, and human resource functions essential to daily operations.

Work will include helping to manage the district's overall budget and financial activities, coordinating purchasing and contract administration, and ensuring appropriate handling of revenue and expenditures.

You will also support personnel processes such as recruitment, onboarding, timekeeping.

You will be responsible for maintaining employee files as well as providing guidance on policy updates and administrative procedures.

In addition, you will help maintain efficient office operations through reception support, communications, recordkeeping, and coordination of supplies, equipment, and facility needs.

Forest fire protection efforts will be provided by conducting prompt dispatch for working fires and maintaining detailed supply databases.

This position plays a key role in keeping administrative systems organized, compliant, and responsive to the operational needs of the district.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per pay period.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Blain. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid driver's license.
