Full Job Description



Midlands Technical College is seeking an enthusiastic and creative instructor to teach a Painting and Abstract Art course within the Personal Enrichment – Creative Careers program area. This course introduces students to foundational art techniques, color theory, and the expressive freedom of abstract painting. The instructor will guide participants in building artistic skills, confidence, and self-expression through hands-on learning.

Instructor Duties:
  • Deliver engaging, in-person instruction that introduces students to the fundamentals of painting, including color theory, brushwork, and composition.
  • Teach students to build their own color wheel and apply color interactions effectively in their work.
  • Lead exercises in abstract and expressive painting, emphasizing creative interpretation and personal style.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques, tool usage, and maintenance of painting materials.
  • Prepare and distribute supply lists and guidance on cost-effective material selection.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment for students of all skill levels.
  • Provide individualized feedback to foster artistic growth and confidence.
  • Coordinate with the Program Coordinator on scheduling, materials, and course evaluations

This position is located on the Northeast Campus in the Corporate and Continuing Education department.
