Job Description

Summary

This role involves teaching mathematics courses at a community college, using various methods to engage students both in-person and online, while providing feedback and assessing learning outcomes.

It requires designing syllabi, maintaining records, and staying current with educational best practices to support student success.

Ideal candidates are passionate educators with advanced math knowledge and experience in digital teaching tools, comfortable adapting to different campus locations and student groups.

Key Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in mathematics (e.g., MAT, MATH, STAT, or BIOS prefixes)
  • Experience using learning management systems like D2L Brightspace
  • Proficiency with video conferencing tools such as Zoom
  • Familiarity with third-party educational tools like MyMathLab, Cengage, or MyOpenMath
  • Ability to teach in multiple environments including on-campus, online, virtual, and dual enrollment settings
  • Commitment to professional standards, timely feedback, and continuous instructional improvement

Full Job Description


This position is located on the Airport, Beltline Campus, Dual Enrollment, and other locations as needed in the School of Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Promotes student learning by communicating course content through a variety of teaching strategies, facilitating student engagement across all learning environments (on-campus, online or virtual), teaching metacognitive awareness and the skills needed for life-long learning, and using the learning management system (LMS) and other technologies to enhance instruction; aligns activities and assessments with course objectives and student learning outcomes; provides timely feedback that promotes continuous improvement; uses student evaluations for ongoing self-assessment and instructional improvement; and adheres to accepted standards of professional behavior, civility and service excellence. Designs courses/curricula that align with student learning outcomes; evaluates effectiveness of course materials and teaching strategies for continuous improvement and currency; adheres to department guidelines and college policies outlined in course syllabi; uses approved template to create an individualized syllabus for each course and posts it on the learning management system at the beginning of the semester; establishes and maintains a semester schedule of activities; records current attendance and grades in the LMS; conforms to all state and federal laws pertaining to students' rights in higher education; and meets all department and college deadlines.


This position is located on the Airport, Beltline Campus, Dual Enrollment, and other locations as needed in the School of Science, Information Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Requirements

Master’s degree and 18 credit hours of graduate level courses in mathematics. Coursework may include courses with prefixes such as MAT, MATH, or STAT or BIOS (Biostatistics). Accounting, engineering or business related courses are unable to be credentialed for this role.

Qualifications

Experience using technology such as D2L Brightspace, Zoom, and third party homework systems like MyMathLab, Cengage, MyOpenMath and/or a similar educational learning tool.
