Job Description

Summary

This role involves teaching hands-on automotive technology courses at a community college, focusing on skills like vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, safety, and electric vehicle basics to prepare students for high-tech jobs.

It's part of a short-term, employer-driven training program that runs full-time during the day for a few months.

Ideal candidates are experienced auto technicians with a passion for teaching who enjoy working with groups in a fast-paced setting.

Key Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in automotive technology or related skilled trade
  • Significant professional experience in automotive service technology and/or electric vehicle systems
  • Prior teaching or training experience, especially in hands-on settings (preferred)

  • Flexibility and availability for full-time daytime schedule (Monday-Thursday) over 3-4 month periods

Midlands Technical College’s Corporate and Continuing Education (CCE) Division is seeking experienced and passionate adjunct training instructors to deliver hands-on customized automotive technology training.

As part of a customized, accelerated training initiative, this program will equip trainees with the skills needed to thrive in an advanced, high-tech automotive production environment. You’ll join a dynamic training team dedicated to excellence, innovation, and workforce transformation.

What You'll Do:
  • Help develop and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in automotive systems, maintenance, safety, diagnostics, and EV technology fundamentals.
  • Support a fast-paced, cohort-based learning environment designed around employer needs.
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback to ensure skill mastery and job readiness.
  • Collaborate with college and industry partners to maintain training quality and consistency.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Significant professional experience in automotive service technology and/or electric vehicle systems.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred, especially in a hands-on setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for helping students and employers succeed.
  • Flexibility and availability to teach a full-time, daytime schedule, M-Th for 3-4 month course delivery periods
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Northeast Campus.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in automotive technology or related skilled trade field and three (3) years of experience; OR five (5) years of automotive industry or related experience including training or mentoring new automotive technicians. The Candidate must have extensive on the job experience, knowledge, and training along with the ability to convey that knowledge to others.

Qualifications

Teaching credentials; Automotive manufacturing experience; Prior continuing education program delivery experience; Relevant professional certifications and/or licenses.
