Full Job Description

Maintains a high level of excellence in teaching by communicating and interacting effectively with students enrolled in courses within the program area. Prepares materials needed for course instruction and testing. Keeps student records and adheres to course schedules. Uses learning management systems to communicate with students, faculty and staff. Participates in the collection of student learning outcomes. Assists the Automotive Technology coordinator with timely notification of any shortfall in supplies or equipment needed for lab instruction. Conducts lectures, discussions and other teaching activities. Relates instruction and material to course objectives. Provides students with course syllabi and correlates grade assignment with skill and course competency. Submits grades, reports and records in a timely manner. Remains current in field.

An Adjunct faculty member in Automotive Technology Program must have a broad knowledge of the automotive industry with specific knowledge in the area(s) of teaching automotive technology. The faculty member needs to have direct practical experience in the area of Heating and Air Conditioning Repair. Experience in Electrical Systems; Brake, Suspension and Steering; Engine Performance; Engine Repair; and Drive Train Repair is highly desirable. The desired faculty member should have as a minimum an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology and three years practical experience as an Automotive Technician and be Master ASE Certified.

This position is located on the Airport Campus in the Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in applied Automotive Technology with a minimum of five (5) years related experience as an automotive technician.
