Oversee an accounting section, including perform professional accounting or auditing work in support of financial management systems.

The typical starting salary range will be $51,646.40 - $61,984.00 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. Requirements

  • Oversee and Maintain the County’s Chart of Accounts within Workday: Review and evaluate requests for new Workday financial data elements (e.g., worktags, ledger accounts, cost centers, funds, grants, programs). Coordinate the creation and configuration of approved values within Workday.
  • Support Workday Financial Configuration and Governance: Assist with testing, validation, and deployment of Chart of Accounts updates and system enhancements.
  • Maintain and Update Accounting Policies and Procedures: Assist in updating and developing job aids to reflect Workday processes, workflows, internal controls, and reporting structures.
  • Financial Reporting and Year-End Close: Assist with preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Perform transaction analysis and prepare adjusting journal entries to ensure proper reporting for external audits.
  • Perform Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations. Validate data conversions during migration, ensure supporting documentation is complete, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Provide Shared Oversight for Electronic Payroll and ACH Activities: Support regular, elected, and retirement payrolls, ensuring accurate direct deposits, deferred compensation, unemployment insurance wages, etc.
  • Review Legislation for Accounting Alignment: Review proposed legislation to ensure proper alignment with Workday financial structures and correct use of worktags and ledger accounts.
  • System Integration and Migration Support: Participate in Workday implementation and post-go-live optimization efforts.

    Assist with data mapping, testing, parallel runs, and validation of migrated financial data. Collaborate with IT and departmental stakeholders to resolve system issues and enhance functionality.

    Cross-Training and Transition Support – Capital Assets: Collaborate with the Capital Asset Accountant to develop a comprehensive understanding of fixed asset accounting processes, including asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, construction-in-progress, and reconciliation to the general ledger within Workday.

    Participate in system configuration, reporting, and process documentation related to capital assets to support knowledge transfer and prepare for a future transition into the Capital Asset Accountant role.

    Qualifications

    Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and two years of related experience.

    SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.


    The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.

    The interview will comprise100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.

    After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.

    Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.


    The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

    All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

    Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
