Full Job Description

Appointment Incentive for DHHR:
  • $5,000.00

1 vacancy in Kanawha County

Under direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Accounting, this position will perform entry level accounting duties. It will also assist the Director in balancing and reconciling all financial transactions entered in wvOASIS by the four divisions within the Office of Accounting (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, PCard, and General Accounting and Reporting). It also assists with the reconciliation of transactions by running and analyzing daily reports to be used by the Director to recommend adjusting or correcting entries. Assists in analyzing financial transactions for completeness and accuracy to determine compliance with state and federal law as well as Department policy and procedures.

Selected candidates who agree to work for a minimum of twelve (12) months may be eligible to receive a $5,000 appointment incentive. This incentive does not apply to current employees of the State of WV.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.

AND

Experience: One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in accounting, statutory accounting or auditing work.

OR

Substitutions: (1) Graduate coursework in accounting may substitute at a rate of 15 semester hours for one (1) year of the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a Public Accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and required experience.

NOTE: At the appointing agency’s discretion, competitive candidates may receive probationary appointment pending official verification of the qualifying training or certification. The qualifying training or certification must be verified before the employee may be certified permanent.

Additional Information


An additional one (1) year of experience in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, and/or finance may substitute for the required accounting semester hours at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty semester hours.
