Wayne County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking a highly motivated accounting professional for the position of Accountant 1.

Requirements

In this position, you will be responsible for accounting activities that support our Combined Human Services fiscal team, specifically for cross program analysis and Area Agency on Aging (AAA) program.

This includes processing incoming deposits, reconciling revenue subsidiary schedules with general ledger accounts, and preparing adjustment vouchers to correct or close accounts maintained, as well as assisting in the revenue recognition and general ledger reconciliation for all Human Services programs.


You will also assist with audit schedules, complete revenue research and analysis, and prepare management, budget to actual analysis, and other reports for review.

Work utilizes generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and applies them to transactions and situations as they occur.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Occasionally, irregular hours, including evening and weekends, may be required.
  • Employee may have occasional overnight travel out of county for meetings or training.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting; or
  • One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
