Job Description
Summary
This job is for a Food Service Manager 1 at the Tacoma Reentry Center, where you'll oversee daily food operations for a corrections reentry program, including meal preparation, staff supervision, and ensuring smooth service.
It's a full-time role with a Monday-Thursday schedule from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., focused on supporting residents transitioning back into the community.

Key Requirements
- Must be a permanent employee of the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC)
- Must hold permanent status in the Food Service Manager 1 class
- Must be represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE)
- Eligible to request a transfer under WFSE Article 4.7 of the 2025-27 Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Available to work 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with flexibility based on unit needs
- Submit transfer request via email to DOCReentryHRSupport@doc1.wa.gov with full name, personnel number, current job title, and work unit
- No eligibility for another Article 4.7 transfer for 12 months if offer is refused, or 24 months if accepted

The Department of Corrections (DOC) has a permanent, full time Food Service Manager 1 opening available within the Reentry Division. Position #SI92 is located at Tacoma Reentry Center in Tacoma, WA. Hours of work for this position are 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.
In accordance with Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-27 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY. Employees who meet the following criteria may apply:
- You are requesting a transfer under Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
- You are a permanent DOC employee.
- You currently hold permanent status in the class being recruited for in this job posting.
- You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.
