Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is comprised of approximately 847 employees and 1,127 active operational and administrative volunteers. The Department is a growing organization that serves a large and diverse population located 30 miles northwest of Washington, DC. We provide a full range of emergency and non-emergency services to approximately 400,000 residents within a 520 square mile area. Requirements

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Specialist position working 40 hours a week. The successful applicant should have knowledge of recruitment marketing, retention techniques and programs, a fire and rescue combination system, volunteer operations, procedures, and training. The successful candidate will work a flexible schedule to address their duties to include:

- Recruits fire and rescue volunteers, in both operational and administrative roles.

- Develops, coordinates, and implements community outreach and volunteer recruitment and retention events.

- Coordinates and implements social media communications with the Fire and Rescue Public Information Office and volunteer companies.

- Drafts content for social networking platforms; plans, organizes, and implements social media programs and events; and monitors content of County and Volunteer Company social media sites.

- Assists with training volunteers recruiting and retention techniques; explains program policies and procedures.

- Coordinates and assists with teaching new volunteer orientation, where they are taught about the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System’s structure, expectations, policies, procedures, requirements, benefits, and more.

- Develops and implements recognition and retention programs for volunteers and their contributions to the County.

- Ensures volunteers have the resources they need to be successful in their roles, and volunteer companies have the tools they need to be successful with recruitment and retention.

- Establishes performance expectations and goals for volunteer recruitment and retention; leads and plans activities and coordinates volunteer assistance to accomplish goals.

- Assists with volunteer records management and processing.


Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; one (1) year of related work experience preferably with at least one (1) year of experience as an operational volunteer in fire and/or rescue; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).

Certifications in bloodborne pathogens and CPR instructor preferred. Certification as a firefighter or EMT is preferred.

Additional Information

Selection process will be comprised of application review, panel interview, a final interview and a comprehensive background check to include criminal record check, credit check, DMV and fingerprinting.
