Job Description

Summary

This job is for a veterinarian at a U.S.

Army clinic in Germany, where you'll provide routine check-ups, diagnose and treat illnesses or injuries in pets owned by military families, perform surgeries, and run lab tests.

You'll also guide animal health assistants and keep detailed records to ensure high-quality care.

It's ideal for a licensed vet with hands-on experience in animal treatment who can handle physical demands and work abroad.

Key Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited school
  • Valid unrestricted state license to practice veterinary medicine in any U.S. state
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs and perform physical tasks like standing, walking, restraining animals, kneeling, and reaching for long periods
  • Experience examining animals, treating diseases and injuries, and conducting surgeries
  • Skills in collecting and testing body fluids/tissues, interpreting lab results, and issuing health certificates
  • Proficiency in maintaining medical records and providing administrative support
  • USDA/APHIS accreditation (highly preferred for best qualification)

Full Job Description

This position is located at the Vilseck, Germany Veterinary Treatment Facility. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA).

Possess a valid unrestricted state license to practice veterinary medicine (may be a valid state license from any US state). Official transcripts must be provided prior to time of hire.

Unofficial college/university transcripts may be uploaded for initial qualification screening In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Possess active United States Department of Agriculture/ Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS) accreditation.

Physical Requirement: Ability to lift 45 lbs and long periods of standing, walking, restraining, kneeling, reaching and sitting, etc.

Must have use of fingers; Both hand and both legs are required; Position requires exposure to intermittent excessive noise. The information provided on your resume should be clear and specific.

  • Serves as the clinic Veterinarian performing wellness appointments on a population of privately-owned animals and advising owners on proper immunizations and disease prevention.
  • Examine animals, treat diseases and injuries, conduct surgeries. Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, and other body fluids for examination and diagnostic testing.
  • Performs and interprets laboratory findings. Issues health certificates.
  • Perform administrative duties such as maintaining legal medical health records.
  • Provides direction and oversight to Animal Health Assistants with regards to veterinary nursing skills, veterinary medical standards, and animal care.
