Job Description

Summary

This job is for a clerk at a military veterinary clinic in Hawaii, where you'll handle front desk tasks like greeting clients, scheduling pet appointments, managing payments, and keeping the office clean.

No advanced experience is needed, but being comfortable with physical tasks like lifting or standing for long periods makes you a top candidate.

Key Requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite or equivalent and point-of-sale software
  • Basic arithmetic skills for handling cash, balancing drawers, accepting payments, and providing change
  • Typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and perform physical tasks like standing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting for long periods (highly preferred)
  • Experience maintaining cleanliness in reception and exam areas
  • Accuracy in updating medical files, scheduling appointments, and verifying patient eligibility

Full Job Description

This position is located at the Fort Shafter Veterinary Treatment Facility. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Ability to communicate orally and deal effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Basic computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Suite or equivalent, ability to use point of sales software.

Basic arithmetic expertise to balance cash draw, accept payments and provide change accurately. Typing proficiency - 40WPM.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Ability to lift 40 lbs and long periods of standing, restraining, kneeling, reaching and sitting, etc.

Assumptions will not be made regarding your experience and the duties performed. Major Duties:

  • Receives telephone calls and visitors to the clinic, determines the nature of call or visit, obtains identifying information, and verifies the patient's eligibility for treatment. Schedules appointments for eligible patrons.
  • Updates the existing medical file or collects sufficient information to prepare new file. Provides concise accurate information to veterinary care provider on nature of the visit.
  • Receives payments for services rendered. Balances cash and checks daily and makes daily bank deposit.
  • Monitors and replenishes inventory.
  • Maintains reception and exam rooms to ensure cleanliness. Spot cleans if necessary.
