This job involves investigating consumer complaints about utility services, such as unpaid bills and service shutoffs, to help resolve issues fairly and protect people's rights to essential services.
You'll handle phone calls, research details, and sometimes negotiate payment plans to prevent terminations.

Utility Termination Investigators serve a dual role in intake and investigation.
You will perform simple to moderately complex investigations into a variety of consumer complaints related to utility services, including but not limited to account delinquencies and service terminations.
When appropriate, you will facilitate fair and reasonable amortization agreements to help resolve these issues.
The position supports the protection of consumer rights and ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines promoting equitable access to utility services.
You will have the opportunity to take part in a comprehensive training program that includes classroom, one-on-one, and on-the-job training to prepare you to independently handle calls, investigate and resolve informal termination, and service utility complaints.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position.
The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved.
Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection.
