Requirements

As a Corrections Utility Plant Supervisor, you will oversee the operation and maintenance of a boiler plant and ensure a continuous and reliable supply of steam.

You will supervise both staff and inmate workers performing routine and specialized boiler plant operations including the maintenance and repair of steam boilers, pumps, water towers, and water and sewage equipment.

You will also implement effective work processes, conduct orientation and training, and provide instruction in specialized areas of operation, maintenance, and repair.

This role requires solid knowledge of boiler plant processes and procedures to ensure compliance with established safety and sanitation standards.

In addition, you will approve requisitions for supplies and supervise the installation of all equipment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Corrections Utility Plant Operator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam generating plant, or steam and electric generating plant, including two years of experience as a lead operator; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
