Education and Experience: One (1) year of experience in pipe laying operations or construction, maintenance or repair work.

Licenses and Certificates: If assigned driving duties, Texas Class "C" Drivers License or an equivalent license issued by another state is required.

Requirements

Under general supervision, perform, assist and train assigned crew personnel in laying, fitting and caulking pipe for water and wastewater lines.

Qualifications

Perform semi-skilled and skilled pipefitting work. Involves: Cut, lay and fit pipe for water and wastewater systems. Train crew in performing the same activities. Caulk joints with molten lead, cement or other compounds or join with equipment mechanical means Thread pipe. Inspect, operate, install and repair fire hydrants and all sizes of water meters. Make taps, small and large under water pressure. Install, check and operate valves and related pipe fittings and appurtenances. Lay brick and set batter boards. Coordinate and spot mark buried utilities. Coordinate activities with public utilities. Excavate and shore trenches. May keep time of crew and prepare daily activity and work reports.
