It's a 12-month training role in Pennsylvania that offers hands-on experience in engineering tasks and interaction with various agencies and the public.
It's ideal for someone new to the field with basic construction or surveying experience who wants to build skills for future advancement.
In this position, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the inspection of various stages of transportation construction projects.
Your responsibilities will include verifying grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors.
You will also contribute to the completion of necessary documentation, ensuring that the work executed by contractors meets the required standards as outlined in the Project Office Manual (Publication 2) and Publication 408.
Utilizing technology such as computers and iPads, you will enter daily project documentation into an electronic system, streamlining the reporting process.
Additionally, you will engage with Department staff, as well as federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the public, to facilitate the effective management of transportation construction initiatives.
Your tasks will also involve preparing Project Site Activity Reports (PSAs), performing mathematical calculations, and managing all relevant construction documentation, whether manually or electronically.
Furthermore, you will assist in addressing and resolving any field construction challenges that may arise during the project.
