In this important position, you will be responsible for effectively operating highway construction and maintenance equipment while also performing various manual labor tasks as part of a highway or bridge maintenance team.
Your duties will include driving trucks and loaders, along with other necessary machinery. When not operating equipment, you will assist with traffic control by performing flagger duties as needed.
Additionally, you will engage in a range of manual labor activities using both powered and hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, hammers, and more.
It will be essential to choose the right tools for each job to reduce wear and tear, and you will need to report any missing or damaged equipment.
Your tasks will also involve cleaning culverts, mowing grass, trimming brush, setting up signs, digging ditches, and repairing guiderails and barriers.
