Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing and updating training materials for the AEGIS Combat System, a key naval defense technology, including planning purchases, reviewing updates, and supporting course development and instructor evaluations.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in military systems training, strong problem-solving skills, and a background in education or curriculum design, ideally from a defense or technical field.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-09 level or equivalent, including operating and maintaining the AEGIS Combat System
  • Knowledge of training principles, methods, and techniques for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum
  • Ability to provide guidance and problem-solving for instruction, course development, and assessments
  • Skills in evaluating and measuring instructor and student performance, offering counseling and special instruction
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating procurement of training materials
  • Responsibility for life cycle maintenance of training materials, including reviewing hardware configuration changes
  • Assisting with curricula requirements, such as developing/modifying courseware and directing instructor certifications

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Training Specialist in the Learning Standards Office of SURFCOMSYSTRNCMD AEGIS TRAREDCEN.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying experience of operating and maintaining the AEGIS Combat System to advise leadership regarding associated education programs and training systems; 3) Providing authoritative guidance and problem solving skills to impact instruction, course development and course assessments; 2) Applying knowledge of training principles, methods, practices and techniques to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum and/or training material; and 4) Evaluating and measuring instructor and student performance to provide counseling and/or special instruction, determining action required to resolve marginal performance.

  • You will plan, schedule, specify, manage, and coordinate the procurement of all AEGIS Combat System training materials and ensure adequacy, accuracy, and completeness of all material procured.
  • You will be responsible for life cycle maintenance of the AEGIS Combat System training material to include review of all shipboard hardware configuration changes that could potentially have an impact on curricula.
  • You will assist course representatives with their curricula requirements such as developing/modifying courseware and directing instructor certification and evaluations.
  • You will serve on AEGIS Combat System planning boards and attend meetings concerning the development, acquisition and implementation of AEGIS Combat System materials.
