Classified-Exempt Position
Parks and Recreation/Babcock State Park Under general supervision, at the full-performance level, employee will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance, or construction of CCC era Cabins, Historical Gristmill, and related structures.
Performs full-performance experienced work maintaining and repairing a variety of lawn and construction equipment. May be exposed to hazardous working conditions.
Employee's assignments, supervision, and review are received from the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and the Building and Grounds Manager at Babcock SP.
Employee may lead part time maintenance staff on a project-by-project basis.
Performs carpentry work such as building, repairing and installing counters, cabinets, benches, tables, chairs, partitions, floors, steps, doors, building framework and trim using hand tools and power tools.
Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment in historical buildings, working from prints, drawings or oral instructions.
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on building HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems; troubleshoots electrical controls.
Performs repairs to equipment such as replacing motors, belts, seals, bearings and blades. Repairs dry wall and masonry structures.
Repairs and replaces sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains and water lines. Paints, finishes and decorates surfaces of buildings, equipment, machinery and furnishings, both interior and exterior.
Prepares area; erects scaffolding; cleans surfaces; helps maintain septic and sewage treatment facilities for Babcock's buildings and cabins. Repairs and maintains tools and equipment used.
Performs grounds work such as mowing and trimming, removing snow, sweeping sidewalks and picking up trash.
Employee will work throughout all park facilities and may be required to lift and move heavy objects. Employee will be required to work on ladders and at rooftop heights.
Employee required to wear provided uniform. Employee must possess a valid driver's license. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position. Performs related work as required.
