Job Description

Summary

This job involves teaching practical IT skills to adult students, including those with learning challenges or disabilities, to prepare them for jobs in information technology.

You'll create up-to-date lesson plans, adapt teaching methods to fit different needs, and work with teams to track student progress and improve training.

Teach technical and related subjects to the Information Technology Department that will assist students in developing competitive skills necessary for employment. Develop lesson plans and curricula that are current with technology. Develop instructional methodologies that will benefit adult learners with academic limitations as well as other disabilities. Develop accommodations as needed to assist the learning process. Participate in an interdisciplinary team designed to monitor and advise students as to their progress in training as well as to develop strategies that would assist learning. Participate in Occupational Advisory Committees designed for technical program reviews.

Qualifications

Alternate Education and Experience
Possession of an appropriate bachelor's degree, master's degree, or vocational teacher certification may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.
OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of recent experience in the practice of the specific trade or occupation to be taught, including six months of experience training others in the trade or occupation may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Trades Instructor P11
This position is assigned subclass codes that require an individual to possess specialized experience, training, or license to be appointed. The selected applicant must satisfy at least one of the following subclass codes if qualifying through alternative education and experience:

TRDBUSEDUC - Four years of experience in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, or other word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, presentation, or web-based programs), and/or experience coaching others in job preparatory skills using a computer for resume and cover letter writing, employment search, and submitting on-line applications.

TRDEMPSKLS - Four years of experience in employability skills training in a variety of areas, including but not limited to computer literacy, business literacy, critical analysis, data analysis, problem solving, and career planning techniques.

TRDCOMPWEB - Four years of experience in the information technology field in computer programming/coding, front-end web application development, or web design using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
