Key Requirements

  • Experience leading or supervising staff (for Trades Technician III and IV)
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to maintain a safe work environment
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and submit to random drug/alcohol testing (safety-sensitive position)

Job Description
This position will be required to perform work on highly specialized equipment, installing and maintaining pumps, valves and other plant process systems associated with Water Reclamation Facilities. The position will be required to perform use of mechanical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of equipment on highly specialized equipment associated with all levels of the water/wastewater treatment process. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs. Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies and maintains mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery. Performs required routine preventative maintenance and repair activities.

Essential Duties

Trades Technician II - This position is a Grade B21(3). Salary range of $44,968.00 - $71,948.00.
  • May serve as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
  • Performs installations, repairs, and general maintenance in functional area.
  • Prepares materials and cost estimates for various projects within functional area.
  • Performs preventative maintenance in functional area.
  • Maintains level of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with establishing safe construction sites to include directing traffic.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Trades Technician III - This position is a Grade B23(3). Salary range of $53,286.00 - $85,258.00.
  • Serves as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
  • Performs complex installations and repairs in functional area.
  • Inspects equipment and determines if any repairs are needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance in functional area.
  • Maintains level of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Trades Technician IV - This position is a Grade B31(3). The salary range is $57,950.00 - $92,719.00.
  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring staff are trained.
  • Ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the section to include processing equipment requests, assisting with the budget process, and coordinating all repairs.
  • Performs highly complex installations and repairs in functional area.
  • Assists with the coordination and oversight of the work of outside contractors.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports.
  • Prepares equipment and supply specifications.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
Trades Technician II
  • High School Diploma or GED; AND
  • Two years of related trades experience; OR
    • an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
Trades Technician III
  • High School Diploma or GED; AND
  • Four years of related trades experience; OR
    • an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
Trades Technician IV
  • High School Diploma or GED; AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible related trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity; OR
    • an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License
