Classified-Exempt Position
Parks and Recreation/Pipestem Resort State Park Under the supervision of the Food Service General Manager, this employee assists in the organization, direction, and operation of food service operations at Pipestem Resort State Park.
The focus of this position's duties will be on the management and operation of the Bluestone Dining Room and conference center banquet/event coordination.
This employee is expected to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, service, and marketing to maximize profits.
Employee plans and directs the department to meet daily needs of the operation; plans menus, develops recipes, establishes price points and effective cost controls to prevent waste fraud and abuse; ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations; prepares meals that consistently meet the standards of the operation and guest expectations; manages planning and implementation of banquet and conference center food and beverage needs, including organizing and directing event staffing assignments, buffet or plated service arrangements, beverage service compliance, and set up/post-event breakdown and cleanup in accordance with park policies and safety standards; interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, and mentors approximately 50 food service workers in the consistent preparation and planning of the menu items; develops and maintains staffing schedules based on forecasted business levels, event bookings, seasonal demand, and budgeted labor targets, adjusting staffing in real time to meet operational needs while controlling overtime and unnecessary labor costs; oversees opening and closing procedures, cash handling, point-of-sale (POS) system management, reservation coordination, table assignment, guest flow, and resolution of guest concerns or service issues in a professional and timely manner to maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction.
Must have the ability to lead and manage skilled and unskilled staff of individuals, ensures a strong, consistent culture, while building a level of trust for independent decision making.
Performs related duties as assigned. Regular attendance is required.

Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Substitution: Additional experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty semester hours of training.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in travel promotion, marketing, operations, management, or sales for a travel-related hospitality business, hotel, conference center, state government, or in a parks and recreation setting.
OR
Substitution: One (1) year of the required experience will be waived if the Bachelor’s degree is in tourism, marketing, parks and recreation, or a related field.
