Job Description

Summary

This temporary job involves maintaining and repairing gas and electric vehicles and equipment for Pierce County's fleet, with flexible and often short-notice shifts that might only last a few hours.

This position will have inconsistent work hours and will be called in as needed on short notice and/or only work 2-4 hours a day.

Core daily responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, adjust, maintain, and repair automotive and construction equipment.
  • Estimate time and materials needed to complete assignments.
  • Demonstrate sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform the work of the position.
  • Read and understand technical materials, such as repair manuals, parts catalogues, and automotive and equipment specifications.
  • Operate power and pneumatic tools and equipment and use common hand tools.
  • Use precision gauges, electrical testing instruments and measuring instruments peculiar to the trades.
  • Understand and execute oral and written instructions and to work independently in the performance of the work of the position.
  • Perform and complete multiple work assignments in a timely manner.
