Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has an exciting Short-Term Temporary (external) or Out-of-Class (internal) opportunity Talent Acquisition Team.

We're seeking a motivated professional to step into the role of Administrative Staff Assistant.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support in a variety of employment related duties, including daily Workday activities.

This OOC position will report directly to the Manager of Talent Acquisition.


This Temporary or OOC opportunity is expected to last up to 12-months and is open to all qualified candidates. External candidates are [initially] non-benefited and will receive premium pay in lieu of benefits.

Requirements

Primary Job Responsibilities for this OOC Administrative Staff Assistant role:
  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of hiring related activities
  • Provide critical Workday data entry and support
  • Review, research, and triage hiring requests for temporary assignments, out-of-class (OOC) opportunities, and internships for accuracy and completeness
  • Export Excel reports from Workday, Power BI and other applications for HR staff review
  • Assist in recruitment outreach efforts

Qualifications

Experience: One (1) year of experience in administrative analysis, budget administration or preparation, office management, personnel administration, program administration, as staff assistant, or in a closely related field.


Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration or another related field (*If no degree two (2) additional years of qualifying experience is required)

Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience(s) will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and familiarity with Workday position management functions
  • Human resource experience
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a fast-paced work environment

The full salary range for this position is $41.44 per hour - $48.31 per hour.

*Temporary employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, at $41.44 per hour.

Workplace Environment/Expectation: This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. City employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
