The South Carolina Judicial Branch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill our Temporary Administrative Coordinator position to support the Court Services Department.

Under the direction of the Court Reporter Manager, this position provides administrative support, coordination, and business management services primarily for the Court Reporting, Judges’ Scheduling, and Court Interpreting sections.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

This job bulletin represents general duties for this position and is not intended to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Respond to transcript requests received in designated email boxes; verify the correct court reporter by checking the Terms of Court Calendar.
  • Acknowledge and print requests, place them in the production queue, locate corresponding audio/video recordings, and forward them to the transcriptionist.
  • Notify the appropriate supervisor of transcript problems, late transcripts, or incomplete documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, form letters, and other documents; file materials in OnBase in accordance with SCJB’s retention schedule.
  • Respond to inmate transcript requests received by mail or email and file all correspondence appropriately.
  • Conduct research using digital and print resources; assist with document filing and records retention.
  • Serve as backup for processing, logging, scanning, and submitting reimbursement requests for court reporter services; maintain related records in OnBase.
  • Inform the Deputy Director promptly of any issues related to procurement, personnel, or finance.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly reports to the Chief Justice regarding court cancellations and delays.
  • Prepare additional notebooks and files as directed.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to both the Court Reporting and Judges’ Scheduling sections as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • At least two (2) years of administrative work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Reliable transportation (occasional travel to storage facilities and courthouses statewide required).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of Judicial Branch policies, procedures, rules, and services.
  • Strong office management skills and the ability to coordinate diverse administrative functions.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with office equipment and filing systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, county and state officials, stakeholders, vendors, and the public.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Webex and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with OnBase, SharePoint, and OneDrive is preferred.
  • Strong data entry skills.
