Key Requirements

  • Previous experience facilitating outdoor activities or in recreation teaching
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive 15-passenger vehicles and tow trailers
  • Excellent communication, leadership, decision-making, and customer service skills
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred, can be obtained after hire)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and adapt to changing conditions
  • At least 18 years old, pass background check and drug test (including cannabis), and provide resume with 2-3 references

We are looking for fun and friendly people to share their love of the outdoors with our citizens and visitors!
We are looking for fun and friendly people to share their love of the outdoors with our citizens and visitors!

This individual will be responsible for conducting programs on-site, interacting with the public, and representing the agency in a positive manner. Trip Leaders will conduct trips with another staff member or volunteer. Activities are conducted in a variety of outdoor settings for many ages and abilities including youth, teenagers, adults and families.

The Outdoor Program is seeking individuals who demonstrate competence and character which inspires trust. They should also have high integrity, tact, a positive attitude, good judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative style.

Schedule and hours do vary. Our programs are registration based, and no minimum number of hours can be guaranteed. Programs may operate 7 days a week and on holidays; long hours are sometimes required. Part-time: Hours vary on days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

$18.84 per hours + Depending on Experience

Requirements

The following Responsibilities and Requirements are functions the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.

  • Activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.
  • The hired employee will assist with on-site outdoor activities until they feel comfortable leading the activities withanother assistant.
  • Individual will be responsible for driving participants to and from activities throughout the day in 15 passengervehicles as well as towing and backing up trailers that transport equipment to activity locations.
  • Knowledge and experience in the outdoor activities listed above.
  • Excellent communication skill, leadership, decision-making skills, and a confident ability to speak with the public andprovide good customer service.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and flexible enough to make accommodations for unforeseen events.
Requirements of work (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • The stamina to stand for long periods time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

WORK RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience facilitating activities.
  • Have excellent communication, leadership, decision-making skills, and a confident ability to speak with the public and provide good customer service.
  • A background in outdoor recreation facilitation, teaching or related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Valid CPR & 1st Aid Certifications. Preferred but can be obtained after being hired.
  • Pass background check.
  • Pass drug test. Includes testing for cannabis.
  • Available for training dates.

This role is considered a safety-sensitive position for which impairment while working presents a substantial risk of death.
