Full Job Description
Camp Counselors are responsible for creating a fun, safe, and engaging camp environment for children aged 7-11. Under the leadership of the Summer Camp Director, counselors will plan, lead, and supervise camp activities, ensuring campers have a positive and enriching experience. This role requires energy, creativity, and a strong commitment to child development.
Availability: June 15, 2026 - August 14, 2026
Monday through Friday, 35-40 hours per week (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM)

- Always ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers.
- Build positive relationships with campers, encouraging personal growth and teamwork.
- Lead and assist with a variety of camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, STEM challenges, and special events.
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating respect, patience, and enthusiasm.
Program Implementation:
- Follow the camp schedule and implement activities as planned by the Camp Director.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning up activity spaces.
- Encourage creativity and participation during camp activities.
Behavior Management:
- Promote positive behavior and manage conflicts among campers using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Address camper concerns and report incidents to the Camp Director promptly.
Safety & Risk Management:
- Always maintain awareness of camper locations and activities.
- Enforce camp rules and follow all safety protocols to ensure camper and staff well-being.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and report incidents to the Camp Director.
Communication & Team Collaboration:
- Maintain open communication with the Camp Director and fellow counselors.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Engage with parents and guardians when necessary to provide updates or address concerns.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience working with children aged 7-11 (preferred but not required).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude with the ability to lead and motivate groups of children.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Creativity and flexibility in responding to camper needs and interests.
- Ability to work outdoors for up to 8 hours/day in summer weather.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).
- Must pass a background check.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
