Summary
This temporary summer job involves assisting the head coach of a youth swim team in Spokane by supervising swimmers, leading workouts, organizing swim meets, and handling basic facility maintenance.
It's a part-time role perfect for energetic teens or young adults with swimming experience who enjoy working with kids and staying active outdoors.
Ideal candidates are team players who can communicate well and manage records effectively.
Key Requirements
- At least 15 years old
- Competitive swimming experience
- Current Lifeguard certification
- Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or City of Spokane Aquanautic Safety Instructor certification
- Ability to work with children and swimmers of all levels
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Valid government-issued ID and Social Security Card; must pass background check

The City of Spokane's Aquatics Program
seeks friendly and motivated team members looking for a fun way to serve the community!
Part-time 10 - 20 hours per week
Requirements
The following Responsibilities and Requirements are functions the individual who holds or desires the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide supervision of all swim team participants.
- Develop seasonal goals.
- Conducts workouts.
- Host swim meets.
- Assist with any maintenance and custodial duties.
- Maintain records and reports.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years of age at time of appointment.
- Must have competitive swimming experience.
- Possess a valid government issued ID and Social Security Card.
- Required to submit to background check.
- Current Lifeguard certification.
- Required to submit background check.
- Ability to work individually and as a team member.
- Interest and ability to work with children and have the ability to work with swimmers of all levels.
- Have excellent communication skills [ability to answer phones and speak with public] and decision-making skills.
- Thorough knowledge and application of facility rules and policies.
