Summary

This job involves working as a senior expert on undersea warfare combat systems for the U.S.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Senior technician and recognized Royal Australian Navy (RAN) USW Combat System expert in the Combat Systems Engineering Branch (code 2512) of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.

This NT-05 position is salary capped at the GS-13 Step 10 (Capped at $156,715).

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 Equivalency) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: applying comprehensive technical electronics methods, techniques, or principles to perform tasks involving the fielding, operation, or maintenance of undersea warfare systems.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will analyze US and RAN USW combat system design, requirements, issues and development of option analyses with recommendations.
  • You will conduct combat control system studies and issues resolution related to USW combat system modernization and new construction, including requirements development, capability definition, interface requirements and test requirements.
  • You will lead and engage in USW combat system planning activities to ensure compatibility among various asynchronous system upgrades.
  • You will coordinate various submarine combat system aspects, including cost and schedule as well as technical aspects.
  • You will participate in and lead various USW Combat System Integrated Product Team Meetings.
  • You will keep abreast of the latest technology development related to submarine combat systems and submarine platforms.
  • You will identify project risks and associated mitigation plans.
  • You will lead a diverse team across multiple disciplines and organizations.
