Full Job Description

You will serve as Chief Engineer in the Program Management Office of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-03 (GS-09/11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer or Scientist applying advanced theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods of engineering, mathematical science, or computer science to define, organize, or direct engineering processes and project efforts related to the VIRGINIA Submarine Platform Design and Construction and associates Non Propulsion Electronic System components.

  • You will provide technical support to the various Product Leadership Teams (PL T) in the planning execution of approved/funded tasks.
  • You will support identification, assessment, prioritization, and deconfliction of program technical issues/risks and emergent requirements as well as recommending appropriate action(s).
  • You will maintain program/project risk packages.
  • You will lead technical support and coordination of various shipbuilder activities, including ship design, construction, inspections, drawing reviews and other activities.
  • You will work with NUWCDIVNPT VA leads, PMS450 and other organizations and industry (including General Dynamics-Electric Boat (GD-EB) to address technical issues associated with the design, delivery and testing of VA systems and capabilities.
  • You will establish, analyze and update VA requirements with stakeholders.
  • You will ensure end-to-end/system of systems-level perspectives are applied across all cognizant CLB efforts.
  • You will generate and maintain program schedules as required.
  • You will direct the review of all program generated documentation to ensure technical accuracy.
  • You will support technical meetings/reviews (e.g., Center, Department, Division, etc.) as required as well as Code 25 CHENG initiatives.
  • You will review/update Technical Briefing Packages as required.
  • You will lead the review and technical defense of all task proposals.
  • You will lead the generation and implementation of cost saving initiatives.
