Summary

The expected duration of this non-permanent appointment is date of hire through June 31st, 2026. This position has the potential to become permanent before June.

Job Title: Human Resource Consultant 1 (HRC1) Olympia | non-permanent

Location: Olympia, WA | This position is almost exclusively all telework, with a few days of in-person meetings during the first weeks of employment and other meetings and events as business needs arise

While your responsibilities may often be behind the scenes, your work will directly support the dedicated team working towards improving long-term outcomes for the children, youth, and families we serve.

This is a full-time, non-permanent position expected to continue through June with the potential of becoming permanent.



Opportunity:

The primary objective of this position is to provide first-level professional human resource support to the Senior Recruiters and to assist in the recruitment and selection process.

Under the direction of Talent team manager and general direction of recruiters and sourcer supervisor, this position will be responsible for independently prioritizing, planning, coordinating, and implementing duties as necessary to accomplish the assigned responsibilities.

This position may be the initial point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and will be independently responsible for important components of the coordination and facilitation of recruitment activities as well as the collection and recording of appropriate documentation and electronic records and files for the recruitment and selection processes.

Some of what you will get to do:

  • Provide professional level HR support to candidates, recruiters, staff, and the DCYF HR community through the maintenance of the Talent Acquisition Unit (TAU) centralized email inbox.
  • Create and manage communication by providing updates to candidates regarding the process or status of applications.
  • Online Hiring Center (OHC) account management- review requirements necessary to create new user accounts and reconcile old accounts by inactivating user access.
  • Close out completed recruitment requisitions, job postings and exam plans when hiring actions are completed or recruitments are canceled.
  • Assist DCYF staff in the utilization of OHC / NEOGOV.
  • Assistant external candidates with the applications to DCYF; provide assistance and resources for troubleshooting issues.
  • Backup for HRC2's, move candidates through the evaluation steps, review applications / resumes for qualifications and place candidates on eligible lists including screening out unqualified candidates.
  • Assist with gathering documents and reports for public records requests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of work experience in an office or human resources setting, or related field OR a mixture of relevant education and experience equaling four (4) years

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible experience as a professional HR Consultant with the State of WA, where an essential function of the job was sourcing and hiring.
  • Experience interpreting and applying employment law.
  • Experience providing recruitment consultation.
