This job is for a Survey Technician with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where you'll use tools and technology to measure land, set up markers for roads and bridges, and gather data for community projects like construction and property surveys.

As a Survey Technician, your role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining various survey instruments. You will establish centerlines, measure angles, and verify the alignment of structures.
Levels are utilized to secure ground elevations, establish benchmarks, and determine grades on roads.
In addition, you will operate a wide range of equipment such as as theodolites, electronic distance measuring equipment, electronic total stations, electronic data collectors, portable computers, and telecommunications equipment.
You will also employ various Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and techniques to pinpoint mapping and survey grade locations.
Other responsibilities entail performing trigonometric and algebraic calculations, preparing field sketches and notes, and reviewing the work of colleagues for accuracy.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
