Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team that develops and manages training programs for workers repairing naval ships at a shipyard in Hawaii.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PRODUCTION SPECIALIST (TRAINING) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES TRAINING DIVISION (code 900T) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

A post allowance amount, (otherwise known as: COLA), of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary. Post allowance is subject to change at any time.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing employee development and qualification programs, initiatives, and training standards (e.g., training methods and practices, shipyard processes and systems, curriculum development) relative to the repair and overhaul of naval vessels, and formulating improvements for optimizing the effectiveness of training projects or training programs.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will exercise both administrative and technical supervision over subordinates performing production training program work.
  • You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • You will assign work to employees based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty, the assignment requirements and employee capabilities
  • You will establish performance standards and evaluates performance of employees.
  • You will review, evaluate, and comment on division policies, requirement forecasts, strategic long-range plans and programs, and standard operating procedures.
  • You will provide advice, guidance, and assistance to production managers on training program processes, qualifications, and curriculum development.
  • You will develop, analyze, evaluate, advise, and improve the effectiveness of qualification and training methods and procedures.
  • You will evaluate production training trends, perform preliminary root cause analysis of excessive failure rate, and present findings
  • You will execute training program and associated administrative functions, including scheduling classes/students/instructors, record keeping, qualification maintenance, and raining package approvals.
