Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lead firefighter role at a Navy base in Rhode Island, where you'll supervise teams in fighting fires, handling hazardous materials emergencies, and running prevention programs to keep everyone safe.

You'll also help with budgeting and improving safety policies based on reviews of reports and procedures.

It's a great fit for someone with hands-on firefighting experience, leadership skills, and all the required safety certifications who wants to work in a military environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-09 level or equivalent, including planning fire prevention programs, providing fire protection advice, assisting with budgets, and reviewing reports for improvements
  • Possession of all required certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations, HazMat Incident Commander, Driver Operator Pumper, Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Instructor II (awarded by DoD, IFSAC, or Proboard)
  • National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to demonstrate experience through resume, including paid, unpaid, or volunteer work
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain necessary security clearance for Navy installation work

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES of NAVAL STA NT RI.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, conducting or assisting with fire prevention programs; 2) Providing assistance, advice, or recommendations concerning fire protection/prevention; 3) Assisting with preparing a fire and emergency services budget; 4) Reviewing reports, records, codes, and procedures to make suggestions on improvements to firefighting techniques and /or policies.

NOTE: This information must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for the position.

This position requires possession of the following certifications: 1) Firefighter I; 2) Firefighter II; 3) HazMat Awareness; 4) HazMat Operations; 5) HazMat Incident Commander; 6) Driver Operator Pumper; 7) Fire Officer I; 8) Fire Officer II; 9) Fire Officer III; 10) Fire Inspector I; 11) Fire Inspector II; 12) Fire Instructor I; 13) Fire Instructor II; These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Proboard to meet the requirements.

Also note, National Registry EMT (NREMT) and CPR required. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, and provide verification with your application, you will be rated ineligible.
